Situation in the ATO area as of May 4, 2016
Despite the cease-fire, the enemy continued fire
influence of the ATO forces units. It was recorded that the adversary
shelled 6 times from the small arms, grenade launchers and IFVs. The
attacks were, as follows: 3 attacks – Zaitseve, Luhanske (Sloviansk
direction), 2 attacks – Avdiivka, Mariinka (Donetsk direction), 1 attack
– Hnutove (Mariupol direction).
On May 2, 2016, the servicemen of the reconnaissance company of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brogade (Horlivka) of the 1st AC (Donetsk) of the Russian Armed Forces being in the state of alcoholic intoxication and disregarding the commanders’ orders, provocatively employed weapon in the side of the ATO forces in the area Shyroka Balka – Horlivske reservoir storage. It was established personal data of the unit’s servicemen who were involved in violation of the “silence” regime: deputy commander of the 1st reconnaissance platoon BOROZDYCH Yevhen Mykhailovych (born on 01.09.1977), scout-sniper KOZLOVSKYI Ruslan Ramazanovych (born on 08.09.1986) and scout-sniper YEHUPOV Roman Valentynovych (born on 08.07.1991) as well as commander of the 1st reconnaissance platoon, whose orders were ignored – POPKOV Serhii Borysovych (born on 31.05.1981).
The enemy conducts reinforcement and rotation of the forward units in the following directions:
Sieverodonetsk direction: the personnel of the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade (Luhansk) of the 2nd AC (Luhansk) of the Russian Armed Forces to company were deployed from Luhansk in the direction of Alchevsk;
Sloviansk direction: two motorized rifle company of the 6th separate motorized rifle regiment (Stakhanov) of the 2nd AC were depoloyed from Stakhanov to the area of the so-called “Svitlodarsk protuberance”
Donetsk direction: it was conducted rotation of the units of the 1st AC in the areas: Yasynuvata – separate assault battalion (Donetsk), Staromykhailivka – 100th separate motorized rifle brigade (Donetsk).
During twenty-four hours, the non-battle casualties of the enemy were as follows:
11th motorized rifle battalion of the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade (Luhansk) of the 2nd AC of the Russian Armed Forces – one casualty as a result of reckless behavior with arm (area of Novokyivka);
6th separate motorized rifle regiment (Stakhanov) – one deceased as a result of breaching the safety precaution during combat vehicles maneuvering;
100th separate motorized rifle brigade (Donetsk) – two casualties as a result of internal conflict with the using of fire arms.
The Ukrainian side informed the representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine about the presence of tanks, SP artillery systems and 122-mm MLRS “Hrad” in the areas of Stakhanov, Debaltseve and Makiivka.
In view of absence of motivation for further participation in combat actions, a number of the personnel of the units and formations of the 1st AC (Donetsk) and 2nd AC (Luhansk) of the Russian Armed Forces, who tries to abandon military service, increased.
On April 30, 2016, three servicemen of the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade (Debaltseve) of the 2nd AC willfully relinquished forward positions and arms.
On May 2-3, 2016, 12 servicemen of the 11th separate motorized rifle regiment (Makiivka), 17 servicemen of the 100th separate motorized rifle brigade (Donetsk) and 21 servicemen of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade (Horlivka) of the 1st AC willfully abandoned location of their units and moved to the Russian-Ukrainian border. In view of mass cases of desertion, the commander of the 1st AC Major-General of the Russian Armed Forces V.ASAPOV ordered to activate interception plan.
On May 1-3, 2016, 17 servicemen of the 9th separate assault motorized rifle Marines Corps regiment (Novoazovsk) of the 1st AC declared their intentions to resign.
Dissatisfaction of the local population in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine with the presence and actions of the Russian Armed Forces increases.
On May 2, 2016, the inhabitants of Sverdlovsk detained and hurt the code operator of the air defence section of the 2nd AC HQ of the Russian Armed Forces Praporshchyk Ye.DOROSHEV who being in the state of strong alcoholic intoxication, threatened to use hand grenade.
On May 3, 2016, the inhabitants of Luhansk took away arms and seriously hurt a serviceman of the 9th motorized rifle company of the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian 2nd AC I.KOCHUBEI who being in beer tried to shoot in the side of heavily populated areas of the town on the occasion of May holidays.
Taking into account the regular bribes “for the internal needs of the units”, a total part of which is about 30% from month’s payment, the personnel of the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian 2nd AC refused to purchase on own money “Zhukov’s medals” with which it is planned to award them at the festivities on the occasion of May 9. According to the order of the commander of the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces O.BUSHUIEV, it was organized sales of 2 tons of diesel fuel at the black market under the guise of receiving money for central purchasing of medals.
