Situation in the ATO area as of May 24, 2016
The enemy enhances intensity of fire influence on the ATO
forces units. It was noted that the adversary shelled 47 times from the
small arms, grenade launchers, antiaircraft systems ZU-23-2, 82-mm and
120-mm mortars. The attacks were, as follows: 26 attacks –
Verkhniotoretske, Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Mariinka (Donetsk direction),
3 attacks – Stanytsia Luhanska, Shchastia, Sokilnyky (Novoaidar
direction), 2 attacks – Novozvanivka (Sieverodonetsk direction), 1
attack – Luhanske (Sloviansk direction), 6 attacks – Berezove
(Volnovakha direction), 9 attacks – Pavlopil, Hnutove, Lebedynske,
Shyrokyne (Mariupol direction).
The enemy continues to reinforce advanced units, to improve fortifications and to resupply ammunition of the units and formations of the 1st AC (Donetsk) and 2nd AC (Luhansk) of the Russian Armed Forces in the following directions:
Novoaidar direction. It was conducted a rotation of the units of the 12th infantry battalion of the 2nd separate mototirze drifle brigade (Luhansk) of the 2nd AC of the Russian Armed Forces in the area of Pankivka;
Sieverodonetsk and Sloviansk directions. The engineer units of the 4th separate motorized rifle brigade (Alchevsk) of the 2nd AC and the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade (Horlivka) of the 1st AC have been carrying out the positions’ fortifying in the area of Holubivske and Zaitseve correspondingly;
Donetsk direction. The ammunition allowance of the units of the 2nd motorized rifle battalion of the 11th separate motorized rifle regiment of the 1st AC, deployed in the area of Yasynuvata, Spartak (8 vehicles with mines for 82-mm and 120-mm mortars, ammo for hand anti-tank grenade launchers) was accomplished.
The enemy continues to intensively supply the POL from the territory of the Russian Federation.
On May 21-22, 2016, 45 fuel servicing trucks were moved through Sverdlovsk to Rovenky (the POL storage base of the 2nd AC).
Dissatisfaction of the population in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine with presence and actions of the Russian occupation troops grows.
On May 23, 2016, the servicemen of the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade of the 2nd AC of the Russian Armed Forces, being in the state of alcoholic intoxication, arranged improvised shooting range for combat knives throwing in house’s entrance door, located at: Luhansk, Voikova Street, 31. In view of inactivity of local authority, the house’s inhabitants had to ensure public order by themselves, as a result of which, one serviceman received heavy injuries.
In the view of danger of the participation in the active combat actions and gradual understanding of the inevitability of punishment for war crimes in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine, the facts of mass writing of reports on dismissal with further returning to Russia are registered among the servicemen of the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade (Luhansk) of the 2nd AC (Luhansk) of the Russian Armed Forces.
For incapability to maintain the moral of the personnel on adequate level, HR deputy brigade’s commander Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces PANOV Fedir Yevhenovych was reprimanded by brigade’s commander Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces RUZYNSKYI Andrii Yuriiovych.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine continues to purposefully gather facts considering the participation of the Russian Armed Forces career servicemen who concealing their personal data and using fictitious documents, have participated in combat actions in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine for onward transferring of the evidential base of such committing war crimes to the International Criminal Court, according to the established procedure. The Ukrainian side regularly conveys the information on Russian servicemen suspected of committing war crimes in the territory of Ukraine to the EU and NATO member states, also in order to enlarge the "sanction" list.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine established that the position of the “HR deputy brigade’s commander of the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade (Luhansk) of the Center of the Territorial Forces (Novocherkask, Russia) of the Southern Military District (Rostov-on-Don) of the Russian Armed Forces” holds Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces PANOV Fedir Yevhenovych (PANOV Fiodor Yevgenjevich), born on 04.04.1981. In the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine uses the undercover name ORIESHKOV (ORESHKOV).
To perform criminal orders of the military-political leadership of
the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of
Donbas, Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces F. PANOV was
seconded in January 2015 from the position of the HR deputy commander of the 336th separate brigade of Marines Corps (Baltiisk, Kalininhrad oblast) of the Coastal Troops of the Baltic Fleet.
Since the beginning of 2015, the units of the 336th separate brigade of Marines Corps (Baltiisk, Kalininhrad oblast) of the Coastal Troops of the Baltic Fleet have stationed in the field camp near Milierovo (Rostov oblast, Russia), have performed “combat missions” near Luhansk on the rotation base and have occasionally involved in the area of Bezimenne Donetsk oblast.
