Situation in the ATO area as of May 5, 2016
Despite the cease-fire, the enemy continued fire influence on the ATO forces units. It was recorded that the adversary shelled 13 times from the small arms, grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars. The attacks were, as follows: 3 attacks – Luhanske (Sloviansk direction), 2 attacks – Avdiivka (Donetsk direction), 5 attacks – Novotroitske, Hranitne (Volnovakha direction), 3 attacks – Hnutove, Vodiane, Shyrokyne (Mariupol direction).The reinforcement/rotation of the forward units continues at the following directions:
Novoaidar direction. In the areas of Raivka, Kruta Hora, Zhovte – from among the 2nd separate motorized rifle brigade (Luhansk) of the 2nd AC of the Russian Armed Forces;
Sloviansk direction. In the area of Chornukhyne – from among the 1st motorized rifle battalion of the 7th separate motorized rifle brigade (Debaltseve);
Donetsk direction. A unit of the 3rd separate Special Forces brigade (Toliatti) of the Central Military District of the Russian Armed Forces arrived to Donetsk. The brigade’s commander is Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces SHCHEPIN Serhii Anatoliiovych.
We draw a special attention that two servicemen of this formation Captain of the Russian Armed Forces Yevhen YEROFIEIEV and Sergeant of the Russian Armed Forces Oleksandr Aleksandrov, according to the decision of Holosiiv district court of Kyiv city from April 18, 2016, were imprisoned for up to 14 years and convicted in engaging in aggressive war by previous concert of membership group, contributing of terrorist organization activities, execution of terrorist attack, weapon employment for provoking of war conflict.
It is continued the supplies of weapon and military equipments, as well as the POL from the territory of Russia. On May 3, 2016, six 122-mm howitzers D-30, six fuel servicing trucks, five cisterns with POL (250 tons) arrived to the Ilovaisk railway station.
Other losses among the servicemen of the 1st AC (Donetsk) of the Russian Armed Forces, acting within sabotage-reconnaissance groups, were recorded:
On May 3, 2016, two deceased and three wounded servicemen of the Russian Federation were delivered to the District Clinical Hospital named after Kalinin (Donetsk). The bodies of deceased were delivered later to Russia by trucks with the registration number of 57th region (Orlov oblast).
The Ukrainian side informed the representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine about the presence of tanks, SP artillery systems, artillery systems and 122-mm MLRS "Hrad" in the areas of Makiivka and Donetsk.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine continues to purposefully gather facts considering the participation of the Russian Armed Forces career servicemen who concealing their personal data and using fictitious documents, have participated in the combat actions in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine, for onward transferring of the evidential base of such war crimes to the International Criminal Court, according to the established procedure. The Ukrainian side regularly conveys the information on Russian servicemen suspected of committing war crimes in the territory of Ukraine to the EU and NATO member states, also in order to enlarge the "sanction" list.
It was established that the position of “the deputy commander for armament of the 1st motorized rifle battalion of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade (Horlivka) of the 1st AC (Donetsk, Ukraine) of the Center of the Territorial Forces (Novocherkask, Russia) of the Southern Military District (Rostov-on-Don)” holds Captain of the Russian Armed Forces CHEPKASOV Oleksii Volodymyrovych (CHEPKASOV Aleksei Vladimirovich). He was born in 1986, in Amur oblast, graduated from Far East Higher Combined Arms Command School in 2007, took part in the combat actions in South Ossetia in 2008; in the territory of Ukraine uses the name IVANOV.
To perform criminal orders of the military-political leadership of Russia, Captain O.CHEPKASOV was seconded in March 2015 from the position of the commander of the 3rd motorized rifle company of the 8th motorized rifle battalion of the 136th separate motorized rifle brigade (military unit 63334, Buinaksk, Dagestan) of the 58th Army (Vladikavkaz) of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces. In 2014, the units of the 136th separate motorized rifle brigade were involved in combat actions in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk oblast and were located near the settlement of Novyi Svit.
It was additionally established that in March 2010, it was opened criminal action respecting Oleksii CHEPKASOV because of accusation in committing of crime legally provided by law’s article 159 part 3 of the Criminal code of laws of the Russian Federation (swindling committed by person with using of his duty status). Participation of Captain of the Russian Armed Forces O.CHEPKASOV in the combat actions in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine makes an opportunity to reckon on conclusive acquittal of him and continuing of military career.
In March 2015, along with Captain O.CHEPKASOV, there were seconded nine officers, including Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces ILIINSKYI Ihor Oleksiiovych (ILYINSKIJ Ihor Alekseyevich) from among the 136th separate motorized rifle brigade (Buinaksk, Dagestan, Russia) to the units and formations of the 1st and 2nd AC, mainly to the 3rd (Horlivka) and 7th (Debaltseve) separate motorized rifle brigades. It was found out that Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces I.ILIINSKYI holds the position of “the deputy commander for logistics of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade (Horlivka) of the 1st AC (Donetsk, Ukraine) of the Center of the Territorial Forces (Novocherkask, Russia) of the Southern Military District (Rostov-on-Don)” and uses the undercover name SERHIEYIEV.
To perform criminal orders of the military-political leadership of Russia Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces I.ILIINSKYI was seconded in March 2015 from the position of the logistics deputy commander of the 136th separate motorized rifle brigade of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.
It is known that Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Armed Forces I.ILIINSKYI along with Captain O.CHEPKASOV and the chief of the POL service of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade of the 1st AC Major of the Russian Armed Forces KARPOV (undercover name) Mykhailo Oleksandrovych established a criminal group on plundering and illegal sale of fuel. By the order of the commander of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade Major-General of the Russian Armed Forces I.TYMOFIEIEV, above mentioned officers sell the POL at the black market that is charged off as a spent fuel for the needs of combat training, and received funds is used for personal enrichment.
We remind of the inevitability of punishment for war crimes that have no time bars and the responsibility for which is provided for the rules of international and national criminal law.
