The enemy continues fire influence on the ATO forces
units. During twenty-four hours, it was noted that the adversary shelled
18 times from the small arms, grenade launchers, tanks, 122-mm
artillery systems and 82/120-mm mortars. The attacks were, as follows: 1
attack – Triokhizbenka (Sieverodonetsk direction), 12 attacks –
Avdiivka, Mariinka (Donetsk direction), 4 attacks – Taramchuk,
Novotroitske, Hranitne (Volnovakha direction), 1 attack – Shyrokyne
(Mariupol direction).
The enemy has accomplished comprehensive target effects of the ATO
forces in Donetsk direction. On the night of May 16, 2016, there were
artillery attack and shelling of the objectives of the Ukrainian Armed
Forces from tanks in the area of the industrial zone of Avdiivka. To
regulate fire and specify the results of fire damage, two
IFVs “Orlan-10” were involved.
The “Leier-10” electronic warfare complex was simultaneously involved.
The rotation and reinforcement of the enemy’s advanced units
continues, within the framework of which, there was deployment in the
following directions:
Novoaidar direction. From Sukhodilsk to Novosvitlivka – the 2
nd separate motorized rifle brigade (Luhansk) of the 2
nd AC (Luhansk) of the Russian Armed Forces;
Sieverodonetsk direction. From Stakhanov to Pervomaisk – the 6
th separate motorized rifle regiment (Stakhanov) of the 2
nd AC;
Sloviansk direction. To the settlement of Pivdenna Lomutavka – the 7
th motorized rifle brigade (Debaltseve) of the 2
nd AC, to the settlement of Holmivskyi – the 3
rd motorized rifle brigade (Horlivka) of the 1
st AC (Donetsk) of the Russian Armed Forces;
Donetsk direction. To Staromykhailivka – up to the howitzer SP artillery battery of 122-mm SP artillery system “Hvozdyka”;
Mariupol direction. On May 20, 2016, it is planned to conduct rotation of the advanced units of the 9
th separate assault motorized rifle regiment of Marine Corps (Novoazovsk).
It was established other losses in units and formations of the 1
st AC (Donetsk) of the Russian Armed Forces.
On May 16, 2016, one serviceman of the 9
th separate
assault motorized rifle regiment of Marines Corps (Novoazovsk) was
wounded during the unsuccessful raid within the SRG.
The cases of blowing up of the 1
st AC servicemen on the
own mine fields continues. These are taken place because of losing in
April, 2016, the minefields’ maps in Mariinka direction and disordered
minelaying of approach routes to the advanced positions. On May 16,
2016, as a result of blowing up by a mine, one was killed and two
servicemen of the 100
th separate motorized rifle brigade (Donetsk) were wounded.
Other facts of the POL supplies in the occupied territory from Russia
were established. On May 16, 2016, it was observed the arrival of the
echelons with the POL to the following railway stations:
Yasynuvata – five cisterns (250 tons);
Rovenky – four cisterns (200 tons).
The Ukrainian side informed the representatives of the OSCE Special
Monitoring Mission to Ukraine about the presence of tanks and 122-mm
MLRS “Hrad” in the areas of Yasynuvata and Horlivka.
With the aim of prevention of discharging from military service for
early returning to Russia, new methods of personnel’s intimidation,
including the opening of fictitious criminal cases, are established by
the Russian occupation command together with the FSB (Federal Security
Service of the Russian Federation).

(in the temporarily occupied territories of the East of Ukraine, uses
the name USPANOV) was detained on suspicion of propagation of ideas of
radical Islamism and possible adherence to “Daish” terrorist grouping.

Despite the long-lasting stagnation of economy, military-political
leadership of Russia continues to expend significant money on supporting
of own authority in the temporarily occupied territories of the east of
Ukraine.
At the beginning of May, 2016, it was imported 1.2 milliard Russian
rubles and $ 382 thousand by cash to the so-called “DPR” through
Marynivka from Rostov oblast (Russia) for providing of the functioning
of the local government’s institutions and day-to-day activities of the
Russian military units as well as 35 thousand of passport blanks,
assigned for executing of the Russian Federation citizenship to the
persons who expressed wish to serve in the Russian Armed Forces on the
contract base and will select for it.
